Curly Wurly Shampoo

106-Curly-Wurly-400-x-400-72-dpi.jpg

Hello my lovely ladies! This time I’m writing to tell you about a Shampoo from my favourite brand of the moment, Lush! Now, you all know how much I love the American Cream conditioner, and this doesn’t take over it, it’s not that it’s not good, it’s just that they are both very different and they do different things. It is coconut scented, and you have to be warned there are actual pieces of coconuts in this Shampoo, which is kind of hard to get used too, because we’re all used to our smooth Shampoo and Conditioners, it smells divine, and does make your hair look lovely and shiny and smell great, the scent does last well which you would expect from Lush, the only problem is that the pieces can be a little difficult to get out of your hair, but alas! It can be done! I still prefer my American Cream conditioner to this product, but I do think that it does everything it claims too, and it’s refreshing knowing that Lush have used real coconuts, you can get it online, or from your Local Lush shop, if you’re a bit skeptical, pop in and ask for a sample, they’re lovely, and more than happy to help out!

The Body Shop Body Butters

Hello again!

I’m having a lazy Sunday and procrastinating doing my Final Major Project for college, so I thought I would talk to you about a brand that I’m really loving at the moment. The Body Shop- Body Butters are probably the first thing you think of when you think of The Body Shop, well I know they are for me, and I tend to neglect moisturizing my body, I’m not sure why, I just find it a chore usually, but recently, I’ve felt like it could do with all the TLC I could give it, so I decided to delve into my Body Butter & Lotions shelf and pick something out that I would use religiously every time I got out of the shower, I picked up my Almond Body Butter, and I can’t remember why I ever stopped using it, it smells unbelievable, I love quite sweet smelling perfumes and lotions etc so this is great it smells like Almond cupcakes, and I think that it moisturizes extremely well, I feel like when I put this on, if I feel my skin 12 hours later it still feels like it’s just gone on, it isn’t greasy or oily and you get a lot of product for your money, I purchased mine back in December, I’ve still got it now, and in December they were doing so many deals, that I managed to pick it up for £5! I think they usually retail at around £15, but I’d still pay that for them because I think they really work, I’m thinking of popping into The Body Shop when I get paid and picking up some more, scents like- Moringa, Cocoa Butter, Chocomania, Coconut Shimmer, and I definitely want to try the White Musk Velvet Creme! What’s your favourite product from The Body Shop, and why?

MAXFACTOR MAX EFFECT MINI NAIL POLISH

Max Factor max effects mini nail 45 fantasy fireMax Factor Max Effect Mini Nail Polish 25 Bright OrangeMax Factor max effects mini nail 30 chilled lilac

SO! Those are the three colours I have in this line of nail polishes, now firstly, some of you may be thinking, a mini nail polish, but you get less product!? When was the last time you finished a nail polish ladies? Come on be honest! I actually think it’s easier to get a perfect application with the smaller handle too, I think that it means you’ve more control over where you put colour.

The colours I have are Fantasy Fire (which I’m sure you’ll have heard of!) Bright Orange, and Chilled Lilac. I’m currently wearing Chilled Lilac on my fingers and toes, which is unheard of for me, it’s great, with one coat it’s a very pale, white toned lilac, but putting on two or three coats turns it into a blue, pink kind of lilac, it’s gorgeous, and I feel like it suits my skin tone and would be great for many others. Bright Orange is totally going to be my summer colour last year I think it was a coral nail polish from Rimmel, but this nail polish already has me wishing for summer! As for Fantasy Fire, I’m not such a fan, I feel like you have to put on so many coats for it to be pigmented enough, I think it would be nice put over the top of another colour, but on it’s own it’s just not pigmented enough for me, I have to disagree with the hype!

The formula of this nail polish is great and I like the packaging, I believe they’re around £3-£4 which I think is the perfect price for a nail polish! :) Well done Maxfactor, one happy customer! x x

Foundation Routine!

Hi there my lovelies, in this post I will be taking you through what I use when I want to apply foundation, and how I get it to last as long as possible, for some people this may not be enough, and for some people it may be too much- use what you like, it’s just how I do it :)

Products used: Stila Colour Correcting Primer, Chanel Vita Lumiere Aqua Foundation in shade B20, Collection 2000 lasting perfection concealer in Light 2, and Rimmel Stay Matte Powder.

Brushes used: Elf studio powder brush, or stippling brush, Real Techniques blush brush, and the synthetic blending brush from MAC, I can’t remember the number?!

First off, I moisturise- I like to use Liz Earle’s daily light moisturiser, then let it sink in for around 5 minutes, after this I apply my primer, I do this because I have combination to oily skin, and because I find otherwise my foundation does not sit as nice, this of course is an optional step. The primer I use is Stila’s Colour Correcting Primer, I like this because I always get really rosy cheeks, and sometimes my chin can go a little red, it tones it down before I put on my foundation, to put the primer on I use the ELF Stippling Brush.

Time for foundation! I squeeze a pea size amount of my Chanel foundation on to the back of my hand, smash my brush into it, to get the product on the tips of the brush (ELF Powder Brush) then in circular motions I begin applying, I start from the centre of the face and work outwards, this is what works best for me.

After applying foundation, I apply my concealer, I like the Collection 2000 lasting perfection concealer, it’s affordable, and it give good coverage without being drying, I apply this on any blemishes, and underneath my eyes and around my nose, sometimes on my chin too, I blend it out with the MAC 229? I could be wrong on the brush number. After doing this step I do the rest of my make up and come back to powder just to let my foundation sink in.

I take my Real Techniques Blush Brush, tap it into my powder a couple of times and press the brush over my t-zone, adding a little to where I’ll contour to avoid it looking un-blended.

I hope this helps those of you who were wondering, sending all my love,

Hollie.

xoxo

I love Root Boost spray by tigi, it makes my hair a little less neat which is what I like :)

BEST OF BRITISH- Lush

As you will all know I’ve posted about Lush around 1 million times on this blog, but it’s because I believe in the company, I agree with their ethics, and frankly they are friendlier than any other company I’ve worked with or come across.

So I thought I’d tell you a little bit about Lush, what they believe in, and then talk to you about some of my favorite products by them! I will be doing this type of blog post for a couple of other companies who I think deserve to be heard about!

Okay, Lush was created back in 1989, by Mo-Constantine, and since the start they have been against animal testing, they’ve been friendly, and they’ve been all about recycling and re-using materials!

I live in Oxford, and I work across from one of the Lush shops and I feel like whenever I go in there, I get a friendly face, and people who genuinely want to help me find something I’ll love, lots of the time, you can walk into a shop and just see on the sales assistant’s face that they want you to buy something just to put cash in the till, with Lush it feels different, I walk in and I get “Hi! How are you? How’s your day going?” Which is lovely to hear, and definitely brightens my day, not only that the people working there always have a smile on their face, they know what they’re talking about, you can ask them any question about any of their products and they will have an answer for you, and one which doesn’t make you feel like an idiot for asking, above all their PROUD to work there.

Not only are Lush fabulous by using natural ingredients, organic ingredients, minimal packaging, and NOT testing on animals, but they also sell one product all year round to raise money for small charities, they don’t gain much press from it, so you know they’re doing it out of the goodness of their hearts, AND 100% of the profits goes to the charity, unlike most companies!!

I’d also like to give a shout out to the lovely Lush PR HQ, Sarahjane in particular for always replying to my questions and things for all of my lovely readers!

Now, some of my favorite products by Lush!

American Cream Conditioner, firstly I cannot stop smelling my hair when I use this product, I’ve done a whole separate post on how amazeballs this product is, but seriously, it smells like sweeties, and cupcakes and all of that good stuff and it makes your hair so SOFT! Shiny too! What more could you want?! It’s also got none of that rubbish stuff that bigger brand shampoos & conditioners have so in the long run it’s better for your hair, and coming from a girl who dyes her hair FAR too much, I need all the TLC I can get for my hair! 5/5 for a great product.

Fluffy Egg Bath Ballistic, I love sweet scented things, so this was right up my street, it was limited edition for Easter but my goodness, it smells AMAZING! I love that it’s a generous sized bath bomb, so it turns your bath a vivid pink colour and fills the room with a beautiful jelly bean scent!

Sex Bomb Bath Ballistic, this is probably my second favorite to the conditioner! It is one of Lush’s most popular bath bombs and it smells amazing, I feel like the scent lingers on your skin too which is what you want when you pop bubble into you bath that smell as good as this does!

Cupcake Fresh Face Mask, okay so you have to get past the fact it’s brown and looks a little, gross. But, it smells like chocolate cupcakes, and I feel like it helps with blemishes, they aren’t magically gone when you take it off, but with regular use I feel like it helps clear your skin, obviously with a good skin care routine too!

Well done Lush!

What is your favorite Lush product, what am I missing out on?

I absolutely love this look, I think it’s such a cool way to get a slick hair style, I love the haute iron spray because it’s quite a dry, heat protectant, and I feel it makes the job of straightening my curly locks much much easier, I love the whole image and I think this would be a great look for school, work or a night out, you could add some hair accessories to make it super glamorous and rock it to an event!

Lush American Cream Conditioner

Okay, my love for Lush got a whole lot bigger after purchasing this conditioner, I only got the small bottle but will 100% be going back for the bigger bottle, it smells like milkshakes, or cupcakes or just sugary sweetness, it makes my hair extremely soft, which sometimes isn’t the easiest task considering I dye it so much, I love the smell of this so much, I feel like people over look the hair care section in Lush, in fact a lot of people over look all of the other products and just go straight for the bath bombs, which don’t get me wrong I LOVE, but you’re missing out, I also have a friend who has been trying out the Daddy-O shampoo and she loves it, it’s taken the brassy tones out of her blonde hair and I must say it’s made me want to go blonde! Alas, I am loving Lush more so than ever at the moment, if you haven’t tried some of their hair care, why not pop in and have a chat with someone who works there, they’re super friendly and they know their stuff!!

Love,

Hollie xxx

MAC Creme Cup Lipstick

So I bought this lipstick and Chatterbox from MAC about 2 weeks ago, and yet again, MAC have not disappointed me, well, their products haven’t, I have to say I didn’t like the customer service I received from the girl working there, but that seems to be the case in every MAC store, I love the tone of this lipstick and think it would look gorgeous with a tan, I think it compliments my blue eyes and because I have dark hair it looks even more pink! I would say if you’re extremely pale this lipstick might wash you out a bit, but it’s a cremesheen and I love the finish, I have been reaching for it most days and cannot wait to pick up some more lipsticks, I currently have Impassioned (Amplified) Chatterbox (Cremesheen) Creme Cup (Cremesheen).

What are your favourite MAC lipsticks? WHAT SHOULD I BE TRYING?

Stila Cosmetics!

So, I’ve been trying out a brand called Stila, I’ve never used any of their make up before so I was super excited to see if it lived up to the hype, and yes, it does! So, I got the Stila ‘In The Light’ Eyeshadow palette, and the colour correcting primer. Straight up, I love them! The palette, is to me better than the Urban Decay naked palette, I enjoy the consistency of the colours, they’re super pigmented, creamy and I don’t find them to fade during the day, I have blue eyes and all of these colours make my eyes look amazing! I think that the packaging is nicer than the Urban Decay palettes, and it came with one of Stila’s smudgeproof eye pencils in Damsel, a really dark Plum/Brown colour, which is super pigmented and lasts pretty much all day in the water line! So, I am totally converted by just that, but what REALLY got me is the primer, now I’m not really one to use primers, I’ve tested a couple out before but I just felt like I was adding more make up to my face than needed, but this one is great because it feels more like a mosturiser! It looks a little bit scary in the packaging, I’ll be honest, and when it comes out on your hand it is green, purple and pink but having quite a bit of discolouration on my face as it is (red patches and purple/blue sections around my nose and eyes) it really helps to even it out, I’m NOT saying it completely makes your face the perfect base colour, but it means you don’t have to apply as much foundation or concealer to correct the colour, as your primer is already working on that!

I highly rate these products I feel like they are high quality, they do what they say and what they are meant too, they are fairly priced, the company is really friendly and I think the packaging is lovely, I’d say if you haven’t tried something from Stila I would check some of their products out, you’ll be glad that you did!

Sending all my love, Hollie xxx

Using Tigi’s work it hair spray you can create the most gorgeous reverse chignon! I’ve worn this to work, and I think it’s gorgeous because you can have the style smooth or you can make it messy! (which is how I like my hair styles!) I have this hair spray, it smells AMAZING it smells like sweeties and it keeps your hair in place without making your hair feel hard, and it it’s sticky, also the packaging is sleek and looks great. Fabulous, there are 4 more looks to come, keep tuned in on my blog to see the rest! I will post one a week. Love, as always- your Hollie x x x
